Partnering with Econergy provides:
Econergy Group, an Israeli investments and management group, has been an active investor and manager of renewable energy assets in the Italian market for nearly a decade. Among Italy’s Top 20 solar asset managers, Econergy Group is currently focusing on creating value for investors by increasing its footprint in the European renewable energy market and continuing its acquisition and active management strategy of high-quality renewable assets.
A portfolio encompassing 30 fixed, single-axis and dual-axis tracker photovoltaic (PV) plants located in Puglia, Piedmont, Lazio, Sardinia and Tuscany, which were operating and connected to the grid for an average of 6 years, with cumulative production in excess of 50GWh per year. The plants were managed and partially owned by Econergy Group.
Econergy Group acquired the plants in a transaction valued in excess of €127 million. This required a very challenging and complicated execution – acquiring 11 SPVs from 7 different sellers while simultaneously refinancing.
A new loan was financed by Mediocredito Italiano Bank (Intesa Sanpaolo Group), among the top 5 Italian refinancing transactions in the renewable energy sector.
Stage 2: Operation of assets
Econergy took over management of the plants upon closing of the transaction, using its proven track record and experience to increase production while cutting operating costs.
After Econergy had managed the plants’ operation for 18 months, it initiated a structured sale process for the portfolio. The ER1 subsidiary was sold to EF Solare Italia, the largest owner and operator of PV assets in Italy.
Econergy Group continued seeking acquisitions in order to continue its strategy of aggregating small- to medium-sized projects into larger portfolios and extracting value by refinancing and/or implementing efficiencies. The long-term goal is to further Econergy Group’s established strategy of expanding its successful ten-year track record in building value and ensuring maximum return for its investors.
